This tip is for Volvo owners, especially in South Africa because your Volvo doesn’t come with a built-in SIM modem.
So you decide to buy a MiFi router or a USB Hotspot Dongle, in order to provide Internet access to your car because you don’t want to tether your cell/mobile phone, to provide Internet access. This tip is also for International owners that don’t want to pay for the expensive data plan from Volvo.

You find that your Volvo won’t connect to your MiFi or USB hotspot dongle, saying “No Internet, along with an exclamation point on the top right hand corner of the screen, then trying going into the Router’s admin settings and change the LAN IP address of the router to 192.168.0.1 and the DHCP range to 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254.
When I did this, the car connected to the router immediately!
My MiFi router’s LAN setting was 192.168.100.1 by default so manually changing the range fixed the problem.

If 192.168.0.1 and IP address range 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254 doesn’t work, they try 192.168.10.1 and the IP address range to 192.168.10.2 to 192.168.10.254.

It seems that there is a bug in the Volvo software which causes the networking not to handle DHCP very well.
The Volvo seems to request a static IP in one of the above ranges (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.10.1).
Changing the Router IP ranges was enough luckily as the DNS setting and Netmask settings were locked down.

I bought a Hotspot dongle rather than a Mi-Fi router, so that I don’t have to manually turn on the Mi-Fi router before I start my journey. The Dongle plugs into a USBA to USBC adapter which plugs into the Volvo USBC socket (without the white border) circle since I only need power. When I start my car the USBC socket power turns on which powers the USB Dongle.,
Internet is provided by the Dongle after about 30 seconds!
My Dongle uses a 4G SIM card that I bought from my cell phone company MTN.
If you want to order the Dongle, then they are not configurable as far as changing the IP address. So make sure that the Dongle is configured for the 192.168.0.1 IP range.
