We had a customer who wanted to know if they could see the amount of available hard disk drive space that was being used on a shared network computer. This networked computer was a media server which stored her movies.
Even though she could see the networked computer listed in the “File Explorer”, the amount of hard disk drive space does not show when viewed in this manner. Only the folder and file names are visible.
To be able to observe this information, we had to “map” the networked computer’s drive to a drive letter within the File Explorer. We mapped the media server to the “Z” drive letter.
Once this was done, the amount of free available space was easily seen as you can see in the picture above.
